Let the ladder down here, Lord, for the angels to climb
And heal this broken heart of mine.
Like Jacob of old, let me dream of You,
And sense the power of what You can do.
The power to sooth my loneliness,
And bring joy even in the midst of distress.
I know, like Jacob, I’ve sinned against You,
But, also, like him, I’ve experienced forgiveness new.
A new beginning within Your will;
A listening ear to that voice “small†and “stillâ€.
Help me, Lord, to trust in Your promises true,
And realize Your covenant with me You’ll never undo.
So, when times of testing and temptation draw near,
O, Lord, let the ladder of love down here!
